So, Onlive has gone live.

I was permitted to enter the service. I have a 7 year old computer with a Pentium D and a GT 220 in it. Thought i was doing it big.

This service is pretty decent. I like i can rent a game for 19.99 on 29.99 unlimited until it wasn't on their service anymore (claimed to be avail until 2013).

All the games ran pretty great on my machine but of course not at max settings(you can't change the video settings (resolution, etc). Most games are HD (720) but are set to what onlive thinks is good enough, which, for the most part, is pretty decent resolution. I said "wow" a couple times when a new game would first load with a nice crispy 720 resolution. While it's not extremist max smooth settings, it beat the hell out of what computer could do stand alone.

The small millisecond control (mouse keyboard gamepad) delay was barely noticable, but you quickly forgot about it when you started playing.

I was just hoping to give Aliens vs Predator a run. My computer couldn't run it playable. The Onlive service will be definitely formidable as large game libraries are 'ported' to the service. It shows great initial promise for right now. Definitely in the future, if it can get a larger variety of games. This also could be the bad thing. It seems games have to be custom programmed to the service. This could prevent the service from getting as many games as many want to see on this service. We'll have to see.

I currently pay $50 bucks a year on xbox AND pay for the games. I can handle paying $4.95 a year and a (cheap-read 20.00 bucks or less) unlimited rental fee since I cannot keep the game nor sell it back and subject to when onlive takes it down off service.

I still have not explored how this will affect my multiplayer with friends. I also want to see aliens vs predator, battlefield, cod2. maybe some w.o.w, aoin, city of heros, global agenda. Then I can tell you if i fall in love it it.

Still worth the 4.95 and one rental fee if you got a crappy to decent computer that meets the specs and there's just ONE game you like to play. Thats just my opinion. Check it out at www.onlive.com  -Bomjus
